Although not a member of the Seventh Cavalry on that fateful day, William Spencer McCaskey does have significance in Little Bighorn history. He was stationed at Fort Abraham Lincoln at the time, and it was his duty to go to Libbie Custer to tell her of her husband's fate. — Raymond K. Johnson
